Carpenters for first fix work in Lakenheath

Our base is in Brandon, about 5 miles from Lakenheath. Brandon, Mildenhall and Feltwell are the same sort of distance from us, which puts this corner of Suffolk well inside the area we cover.

Lakenheath falls under West Suffolk Council. Anything structural, or anything that changes the footprint, is decided and inspected by them rather than by us. We build to what has been approved and work to the inspection stages on the programme.

Lakenheath has a village centre alongside a large amount of later estate building. A high proportion of the stock here is rented, so work usually has to run to a tenancy date. That combination is what first fix carpentry runs into. It is the difference between a job that runs to plan and one that needs scribing to every surface. We price from the property, never from a template.

At about 5 miles from our base, getting out to measure up is straightforward rather than something we have to schedule weeks ahead. Call or send the enquiry form and we will arrange a time that suits you. The quote costs nothing.

Lakenheath has a village centre alongside a large amount of later estate building. Structural timber work depends on what the house was built with, because new work has to tie into the old frame properly.

Plots in Lakenheath are a mix of older village frontages and estate gardens. Access is the practical question here: long joists and roof timbers have to get from the road to where they are needed.

The council decides, not us. Structural work is inspected through building control, and if the house is listed there may be a separate consent to ask about, so we raise both at the first visit. For a property in Lakenheath the authority that decides is West Suffolk Council, and we will tell you plainly what we think before you contact them.

Yes. The nearest other towns on our list to Lakenheath are Brandon, Mildenhall, Feltwell, Thetford Forest and Ely, and the villages in between are covered as well. If your address sits between two of them, tell us the village and we will tell you straight away whether it works.

Yes. It most often runs alongside second fix carpentry, extension work and renovation work, and because one team does the carpentry throughout there is no gap between trades. At about 5 miles from our base, putting the work into one programme also means one run of travel instead of several.
