First fix carpentry in Swaffham

At about 14 miles north of Brandon, Swaffham is comfortably within the area we cover. We also work in Brandon, Thetford Forest, Watton and the villages between them, so this part of Norfolk is well inside the area we cover.

Swaffham falls under Breckland Council. Anything structural, or anything that changes the footprint, is decided and inspected by them rather than by us. We build to what has been approved and work to the inspection stages on the programme.

First fix carpentry here turns on one thing more than any other. In the older centre nothing is square and nothing is level, which is simply how it is. That is what decides how much of a job is straightforward and how much is patient work against what is actually there. We price from the property, never from a template.

At about 14 miles from our base, getting out to measure up is straightforward rather than something we have to schedule weeks ahead. Call or send the enquiry form and we will arrange a time that suits you. The quote costs nothing.

Swaffham has a Georgian and older core around the market place, with later development beyond it. The construction of the house decides how joists run, what walls are carrying, and how new timber has to meet the existing structure.

Plots in the centre of Swaffham are tight and often awkward to get materials into. Access is the practical question here: long joists and roof timbers have to get from the road to where they are needed.

The council decides, not us. Structural work is inspected through building control, and if the house is listed there may be a separate consent to ask about, so we raise both at the first visit. In Swaffham that means Breckland Council. If there is any doubt we would rather you check with them before work is booked than after.

Yes. The nearest other towns on our list to Swaffham are Brandon, Thetford Forest, Watton, Downham Market and Fakenham, and the villages in between are covered as well. If your address sits between two of them, tell us the village and we will tell you straight away whether it works.

Yes. It most often runs alongside second fix carpentry, extension work and renovation work, and because one team does the carpentry throughout there is no gap between trades. At about 14 miles from our base, putting the work into one programme also means one run of travel instead of several.
