House renovations in Diss

At about 25 miles east of Brandon, Diss is comfortably within the area we cover. We also work in Attleborough, Long Stratton, Thetford and the villages between them, so this part of Norfolk is well inside the area we cover.

Diss falls under South Norfolk Council. Anything structural, or anything that changes the footprint, is decided and inspected by them rather than by us. We build to what has been approved and work to the inspection stages on the programme.

Renovation work here turns on one thing more than any other. Timber framed and older property here is slow, careful work and is priced that way. Two houses on the same street can differ on this, so a number quoted down the phone is a guess. We price from the property, never from a template.

At about 25 miles from our base, getting out to measure up is straightforward rather than something we have to schedule weeks ahead. Call or send the enquiry form and we will arrange a time that suits you. The quote costs nothing.

Diss has a period centre including timber framed property, with Victorian and modern housing around it. Structural timber work depends on what the house was built with, because new work has to tie into the old frame properly.

Plots in the centre of Diss are irregular and often tight. It mostly affects logistics, meaning deliveries, storage and a dry place to keep timber until it goes in.

That depends on the property and the alteration, and the decision sits with the council. Anything structural is built to an engineer's design and inspected, which we plan into the programme from the start. The council to ask in Diss is South Norfolk Council, and we can point you at the right department once we have seen the job.

Yes. It most often runs alongside second fix carpentry, kitchen fitting and extension work, and because one team does the carpentry throughout there is no gap between trades. At about 25 miles from our base, putting the work into one programme also means one run of travel instead of several.
