First fix carpenters covering Huntingdon

At about 36 miles west of Brandon, Huntingdon is close to as far out as we go. Ely, March and Soham are all closer to us than Huntingdon, which sits at the outer end of the area we cover, so it comes down to the size of the job rather than the postcode.

Huntingdon falls under Huntingdonshire District Council. That matters as soon as a project involves a structural alteration or anything outside the existing footprint, because the application and the inspections go through them. We build to what has been approved and work to the inspection stages on the programme.

Huntingdon is far enough out that only larger projects make sense for us. That sits on top of the stock itself. Huntingdon has a Georgian market town centre on the Great Ouse, ringed by extensive postwar and modern development. Two houses on the same street can differ on this, so a number quoted down the phone is a guess. We price from the property, never from a template.

At roughly 36 miles it is outside our core area, so it depends on the size of the job. For a full first fix the travel is usually worth it for both of us. For a small one day job it honestly is not, and we would rather tell you that than quote a price that reflects the driving.

Huntingdon has a Georgian market town centre on the Great Ouse, ringed by extensive postwar and modern development. The construction of the house decides how joists run, what walls are carrying, and how new timber has to meet the existing structure.

Postwar estate plots dominate Huntingdon. Access is the practical question here: long joists and roof timbers have to get from the road to where they are needed.

The council decides, not us. Structural work is inspected through building control, and if the house is listed there may be a separate consent to ask about, so we raise both at the first visit. For a property in Huntingdon the authority that decides is Huntingdonshire District Council, and we will tell you plainly what we think before you contact them.

Yes. The nearest other towns on our list to Huntingdon are Ely, March, Soham, Royston and Newmarket, and the villages in between are covered as well. Each of those has its own page for first fix carpentry, linked further down this page.

Yes. It most often runs alongside second fix carpentry, extension work and renovation work, and because one team does the carpentry throughout there is no gap between trades. At about 36 miles from our base, putting the work into one programme also means one run of travel instead of several.

Call 07539 278705 or send the enquiry form with a line about the job. At roughly 36 miles away we will talk the job through by phone first, so neither of us makes a wasted trip. The quote costs nothing.
