Doors, skirting and architrave fitted in Thetford Forest

Our base is in Brandon, about 5 miles from Thetford Forest. Thetford Forest, Brandon and Thetford and the villages around them all sit inside our core area.

Thetford Forest falls under West Suffolk Council, Breckland Council and the Borough Council of King's Lynn and West Norfolk. Anything structural, or anything that changes the footprint, is decided and inspected by them rather than by us. We build to what has been approved and work to the inspection stages on the programme.

The forest villages are made up of village and former estate cottages, with individual houses on larger rural plots. Second fix carpentry is shaped by that more than by anything we bring to it. That is what decides how much of a job is straightforward and how much is patient work against what is actually there. We price from the property, never from a template.

At about 5 miles from our base, getting out to measure up is straightforward rather than something we have to schedule weeks ahead. Call or send the enquiry form and we will arrange a time that suits you. The quote costs nothing.

The area covers Santon Downham, Elveden, Mundford, Weeting, Hockwold cum Wilton, Lynford and the smaller settlements between them. Plots out here tend to be larger and more rural, which is what makes outbuildings and cart lodges practical in a way they are not on a tight town plot.

Plots out in the forest villages are generous, which is why outbuildings are so much more common here than in the towns. Inside work does not depend on the plot, although access, parking and somewhere to cut timber all come down to it.

Three separate planning authorities cover the forest villages, so consents genuinely differ from one village to the next. It seldom changes fitted joinery itself, but it can change what is behind it, and that is where surprises come from.

That is the council's decision rather than ours, and it turns on the property and the exact work. A listed house, or a job that moves a structural wall, is where it is most worth asking before anything is booked. For a property in Thetford Forest the authority that decides is West Suffolk Council, Breckland Council and the Borough Council of King's Lynn and West Norfolk, and we will tell you plainly what we think before you contact them.

Yes. The nearest other towns on our list to Thetford Forest are Brandon, Thetford, Feltwell, Lakenheath and Swaffham, and the villages in between are covered as well. If your address sits between two of them, tell us the village and we will tell you straight away whether it works.

Yes. It most often runs alongside first fix carpentry, fitted wardrobe work and renovation work, and because one team does the carpentry throughout there is no gap between trades. At about 5 miles from our base, putting the work into one programme also means one run of travel instead of several.
