Wardrobes built to your room in Saffron Walden

Saffron Walden is roughly 38 miles south west of Brandon, right at the limit of our range. It is a longer trip than Haverhill and Royston, and we do make it, for a project that justifies the travel rather than for an hour's work.

Saffron Walden falls under Uttlesford District Council. Anything structural, or anything that changes the footprint, is decided and inspected by them rather than by us. We build to what has been approved and work to the inspection stages on the programme.

What we are fitting into matters more than what we are fitting. Saffron Walden has a notable medieval and timber framed centre with Georgian property beyond it. Two houses on the same street can differ on this, so a number quoted down the phone is a guess. We price from the property, never from a template.

At roughly 38 miles it is outside our core area, so it depends on the size of the job. For a full wardrobe project the travel is usually worth it for both of us. For a small one day job it honestly is not, and we would rather tell you that than quote a price that reflects the driving.

The medieval plots in Saffron Walden are narrow and irregular. It is mostly a practical point for inside work: where materials are unloaded and where a cutting station can be set up out of the way.

Saffron Walden carries extensive conservation coverage and a large number of listed buildings. For fitted work it is usually background, and it becomes relevant the moment a wall is moving or a floor is being lifted.

That is the council's decision rather than ours, and it turns on the property and the exact work. A listed house, or a job that moves a structural wall, is where it is most worth asking before anything is booked. In Saffron Walden that means Uttlesford District Council. If there is any doubt we would rather you check with them before work is booked than after.

Yes. The nearest other towns on our list to Saffron Walden are Haverhill, Royston, Newmarket, Bury St Edmunds and Huntingdon, and the villages in between are covered as well. If you are not sure which counts as nearest, give us the village or postcode on the enquiry form.

Yes. It most often runs alongside second fix carpentry, media wall work and renovation work, and because one team does the carpentry throughout there is no gap between trades. At about 38 miles from our base, putting the work into one programme also means one run of travel instead of several.

Call 07539 278705 or send the enquiry form with a line about the job. At roughly 38 miles away we will talk the job through by phone first, so neither of us makes a wasted trip. The quote costs nothing.
