Single storey extensions across Royston

Royston is about 40 miles south west of Brandon, at the outer edge of where we travel. It is a longer trip than Saffron Walden and Haverhill, and we do make it, for a project that justifies the travel rather than for an hour's work.

Royston falls under North Hertfordshire Council. Anything structural, or anything that changes the footprint, is decided and inspected by them rather than by us. We build to what has been approved and work to the inspection stages on the programme.

The commuter development plots in Royston are compact and modern. There is the ground to think about as well. At forty miles Royston is the furthest town we list, so the scale has to justify the travel. Two houses on the same street can differ on this, so a number quoted down the phone is a guess. We price from the property, never from a template.

At roughly 40 miles it is outside our core area, so it depends on the size of the job. For a full extension the travel is usually worth it for both of us. For a small one day job it honestly is not, and we would rather tell you that than quote a price that reflects the driving.

Royston has a Victorian and period centre with a great deal of modern commuter development around it. That decides the materials and proportions a new structure needs if it is going to look right next to the house.

At forty miles Royston is the furthest town we list, so the scale has to justify the travel. It matters most on new structures, where it can change the foundations, the consent needed, or both.

It depends on the size and position of the work and on the property, and the decision belongs to the council rather than to us. Listed buildings and conservation areas are where it is most worth checking early. In Royston that means North Hertfordshire Council. If there is any doubt we would rather you check with them before work is booked than after.

Yes. The nearest other towns on our list to Royston are Saffron Walden, Haverhill, Huntingdon, Newmarket and Ely, and the villages in between are covered as well. If you are not sure which counts as nearest, give us the village or postcode on the enquiry form.

Yes. It most often runs alongside first fix carpentry, kitchen fitting and renovation work, and because one team does the carpentry throughout there is no gap between trades. At about 40 miles from our base, putting the work into one programme also means one run of travel instead of several.

Call 07539 278705 or send the enquiry form with a line about the job. At roughly 40 miles away we will talk the job through by phone first, so neither of us makes a wasted trip. The quote costs nothing.
