Staircases, doors and trim: second fix in Long Stratton

Long Stratton is roughly 33 miles east of Brandon, right at the limit of our range. We do take work on in this part of Norfolk, and at this distance we would rather tell you straight away whether your job is worth the journey.

Long Stratton falls under South Norfolk Council. Anything structural, or anything that changes the footprint, is decided and inspected by them rather than by us. We build to what has been approved and work to the inspection stages on the programme.

The pattern here is consistent. Long Stratton has period property along the old road with modern development set behind it. Second fix carpentry has to suit it. It is the difference between a job that runs to plan and one that needs scribing to every surface. We price from the property, never from a template.

At roughly 33 miles it is outside our core area, so it depends on the size of the job. For a full second fix the travel is usually worth it for both of us. For a small one day job it honestly is not, and we would rather tell you that than quote a price that reflects the driving.

Plots in Long Stratton run linear along the main road, with estate plots behind. For work inside the house the plot matters less than it does for building work, but it still decides where the van, the deliveries and any skip can go.

Long Stratton is a fair distance out and is a large village rather than a town. Inside the house that rarely stops anything, but it is worth knowing about when the work touches a wall, a floor or anything structural.

We do not make that call, the council does. For fitted work inside the house it is worth checking if the property is listed or if a wall is coming out, and we will tell you which of those applies once we have seen it. In Long Stratton that means South Norfolk Council. If there is any doubt we would rather you check with them before work is booked than after.

Yes. The nearest other towns on our list to Long Stratton are Diss, Wymondham, Attleborough, Thetford and Stowmarket, and the villages in between are covered as well. Each of those has its own page for second fix carpentry, linked further down this page.

Yes. It most often runs alongside first fix carpentry, fitted wardrobe work and renovation work, and because one team does the carpentry throughout there is no gap between trades. At about 33 miles from our base, putting the work into one programme also means one run of travel instead of several.

Call 07539 278705 or send the enquiry form with a line about the job. At roughly 33 miles away we will talk the job through by phone first, so neither of us makes a wasted trip. The quote costs nothing.
